(Canceled) Stargazing Session with Lake City Skies

Wednesday, July 20, 2022 (7:45 PM - 10:00 PM) (MST)

Description

This program starts as the sun is setting at the Windy Point Overlook south of Lake City on Highway 149. As darkness settles in Phillip Virden will point out the different stars, planets, constellations, and more viewed both with the naked eye and through a telescope. For more information please call the Lake Fork Valley Conservancy 970-944-5382, email info@lfvc.org, or stop by the LFVC office at 118 N. Silver St.

We ask that anyone coming to these sessions, dim their car lights when approaching the stargazing site. We recommend you dress warmly and bring something to sit on. If you have, bring your telescope and/or binoculars!

Lake City has extraordinary nighttime skies enabling all residents and visitors the opportunity to view the wonders of the universe. 80% of the North American population cannot witness the Milky Way galaxy. In Lake City, we can see our “home galaxy” on a regular basis. Come see the stars in Lake City, Colorado!

Dress warmly, bring a chair if you can, and don’t forget your enthusiasm and imagination!

*Inclement weather (rain, total cloud cover) will cause for cancellation of session.

Cost: Free (donations accepted)
